About me
Jordi Latorre
Audiovisual artist and artistic director of performing arts focused on researching the relationship between the body and the image within aesthetic territories related to flamenco and electronic music. He also works as a curator of programs and video editor.
Born in Barcelona in 1998. He has a degree in Film and Audiovisuals from ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya – University of Barcelona). He began his studies in 2016 and completed them in 2021. He took a gap year and moved to London, where he focused on his artistic training and worked in the hospitality industry. His education at ESCAC provided him with the skills necessary to develop as a non-fiction director. His final degree project received a grant to be produced as a short documentary film.
As an artistic director, he primarily works in live arts, including dance and performance. His research focuses on the physical relationship between video and dance. His work explores the connection between body to an image, viewing the latter as an altered reflection of the former, shaped through processes of coding and digitalization. The scenography of his
pieces is structured around audiovisual devices, generating a dialogue between camera, body and screens. His main areas of research and experimentation are flamenco and electronic music.
As an audiovisual artist, he explores the boundaries between analog video signals and digital aesthetics, creating a dialogue between both languages through video synthesizers and visual creation software. He also experiments with small-format digital cameras such as mobile phones or DVCams. His work primarily focuses on the intersection between live video and the creation of computed and distorted images. He presents his work in the form of performances, Lives AV, video installations, and/or experimental films.
Thanks to his experience, he also works as an artistic director for advertising campaigns, fashion films, music videos, musical projects, and live events. He has recently begun developing his practice as a curator, and his most significant project to date is RUIDO JONDO: a series of events that serve as a meeting point for experimentation between flamenco and electronic music. The programmed features cross-disciplinary events combining performances, DJ sets, and live music.
He also works as a video editor, collaborating on advertising, fiction, documentary and music video projects. He is proficient in using tools such as Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign and Ableton Live (as well as Videosync), and he is also familiar with artificial intelligence tools applied to image and video.
